Beclomethasone Dipropionate+phenylephrine Hydrochloride+lignocaine Hydrochloride+chlorocresol

About Beclomethasone Dipropionate+phenylephrine Hydrochloride+lignocaine Hydrochloride+chlorocresol

Beclomethasone Dipropionate+phenylephrine Hydrochloride+lignocaine Hydrochloride+chlorocresol belongs to the class of ‘anorectal preparations’ primarily used to treat pain and bleeding associated with anal fissures, external or internal haemorrhoids (piles), post haemorrhoidectomy pain (pain after surgery to remove piles), and proctitis (inflammation of the rectum). An anal fissure is defined as a small tear in the mucosa that lines the anus. Haemorrhoids or piles are the inflamed and swollen veins in the rectum and anus that cause discomfort, pain, and bleeding.

Beclomethasone Dipropionate+phenylephrine Hydrochloride+lignocaine Hydrochloride+chlorocresol is composed of Beclomethasone dipropionate (corticosteroid), Lignocaine hydrochloride (local anaesthetic), Phenylephrine hydrochloride (sympathomimetic amine), and Chlorocresol (Preservative). Beclometasone dipropionate blocks the production of prostaglandins (chemical messengers) that make the affected area red, swollen and itchy. Lignocaine hydrochloride causes temporary numbness/loss of feeling in the skin and mucous membranes. Phenylephrine hydrochloride decreases itching, burning, irritation, and swelling by shrinking the blood vessels in the affected area. Chlorocresol is a preservative that has antiseptic and bactericidal properties.
